The Project

Our client based in Twickenham required a new single storey extension and refurbishment to be constructed at their semi-detached property. The newly built single storey extension & refurbishment was to incorporate a new kitchen, utility room and bathroom with a full external render of the house along with landscaping and new patio.

Soon after the job had started and the old render had been removed we were faced with a major problem as the existing brickwork on the property had hardly any cement in it and as a result was crumbling to the point that we knew the rear of the house would have to be removed before we could carry on with our contracted works.

Adamson Residential along with the architect and structural engineers came up with a propping design (structural members used temporarily to support loads during construction). Once agreed with the client we had to prop the rear elevation of the property including the existing loft conversion and remove the rear brickwork of the property. When completed we installed a new steel box frame and rebuilt the existing brickwork after which we were able to remove the props.

We were then able to continue with the extension and refurbishment the bedroom and refit an existing bathroom which had been affected by the crumbling brickwork. A new electric roof light was installed (3mx1m) to the kitchen extension in order to allow additional natural light in, making the room feel much lighter and open, along with new 5m aluminium bi-fold doors leading to the rear garden. The new kitchen utility room and bathroom were installed to a high specification finish.

Externally, patio, render and landscaping works were also completed. The client was extremely happy with the job and the works carried out by Adamson Residential.
